And The Shopping Gods Smiled

This morning I was at my mom’s because the wedding was out in the burbs and it was easier to drive and stay at her place then drive into the city so late. While I was in the neighborhood, I wanted to swing through Macy’s to pick up some Angels on Bare Skin cleanser from Lush because getting to the closest location near me in Lincoln Park is a literal nightmare unless you bike, and even that can be dangerous with all the road and pedestrian traffic. So on my way back home I planned to swing through the mall, but my mom thought it would be fun if we went together since the day was really cloudy and overcast, and in her words, “What else are we going to do.”

So we set out for a quick trip to the store. Our trip to Macy’s was successful in that I got my cleanser. My mom didn’t find anything she liked, so she wanted to check Lord & Taylor while we were there. Oh what we didn’t know going into that store. They had a super reduced sale of 60% final ticketed prices. We both thought we’d look through the racks and try on a few things with the notion that nothing would be affordable in the end. Sort of a dress-me-up adventure. I had quite a pile with me of fun little outfits before heading into the fitting room.

I don’t know what was going on today, but the shopping gods must have been smiling down on me. Almost everything I had picked up not only fit, but was that oh-my-that-fits-you-so-well-if-the-price-is-right-you’d-be-stupid-not-to-get-it-because-it-looks-that-good type of fit. We narrowed the pile to seven items including a dress, two blouses, two sweaters, a blazer and a button-down blouse. Then we needed to go through the price-check process. Again, we’re thinking that these items are still going to be expensive and that we’d narrow the best pieces down to a couple of choices. Instead the price checker kept displaying prices around $20, the most expensive being the $60 dress (which got ruled out) and the $40 blazer. All reasonably priced items for the clothing lines. It was too good to pass up. So I came home with a few nice fall pieces that I’m really looking forward to wearing next week.
