Inches Away Dangling
I was surrounded by everything to stare at
but there was nothing.
Daisy petals fell hard, like hail
crashing through the pavement.
Melting at the touch of my finger
stretched out for your hand.
And I walked the lines for you,
to meet you on the other side.
Flying past, inches away
from cutting my wrists. Harsh
words crush my spirit yet
a glance from you uplifts me.
Happiness dangles from my neck
all can see my heart on my belt.
I am too trusting, yet suspicious of
all close and far, yet facts are told
to complete strangers. My heart pours
slowly, oozing. I can’t find the plug.
My love—grand, full of life.
Love—ride of complications, baggage.
