Amarylis II
I sit in my fairy world
under a big, tall flower.
It shades me from the hot
sun and the tears of the sky.
Its shadow dances across me.
Mmmm … what a sweet fragrance.
If I climb into it,
I can fit in the cup of the petals.
Its petals of velvet envelope
at night, protect me from harm.
The stem, strong and hearty—
I lean on with trust.
I write heavenly lullabies and tunes.
My flower comes every year.
In the winter I must hide
like my flower hibernates.
But with warmth and springtime
blooms my flower once more.
We are best friends
always returning to one another.
