My friend Christine needed some much overdue sock knitting assistance. Of course, I was available to help. We trekked over to an LYS (specifically Arcadia Knitting) to pick up the needed materials. So what are they having? Oh yeah, a sale. Great! I have to take advantage of that. And did I ever!
To start off, I picked up a pair of bamboo US 7. I’ve been working Snow White with plastic (BAH!) because that’s what I had, but those things are too heavy. I felt waited down and my wrists were kind of hurting. The bamboo needles were a welcome edition to my collection. Anyone want plastic?
Then I cam across this delightful red sock yarn, Louet Gems, which will become my father’s Christmas socks using the Yarn Harlot’s Earl Grey sock pattern. Yay! A Christmas idea and the materials. I’m so ahead of the game. I just need to nail my mom down on a sweater pattern that I can start ASAP.
I also couldn’t resist two skeins of Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock yarn. I’ve heard good things and the colorway Funky Stripe called to me in a way that should be a sin.
Last but not least, is Knit One Crochet Too’s 2nd Time Cotton. This stuff is made from the waste and byproduct of the textile and fabric industries. It’s recycled!! I’m planning on some socks with this but I want the pattern to rock so I’m going to have to spend some time thinking about what I want to do.
