Continuing on the film review, here’s a few more I’ve seen recently. Starting with Stardust, this mystical film has an all-star cast. Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert DeNiro, Claire Danes. With witches and flying pirate ships, a love connection and you’ve got one heck of a fun movie. There’s even a bright-burning star. Yay! Plus DeNiro’s performance is a must-see.
Next up is Once. This is a musical of sorts. It documents the bond formed between two performers. They write songs together and develop a mutual affection for one another. The lead guy sounds a lot like David Gray and the music is a great backdrop to an English/Irish film. The lead girl is from Czechoslovakia and trying to raise her daughter. It’s really a cute movie.
Then She Found Me rounds up this trio. Colin Firth and Helen Hunt star with Matthew Broderick in this flick. Both recovering from their spouses leaving them, Firth and Hunt find that they have a real bond that they can’t deny. Broderick (Hunt’s estranged husband) plays a childish selfish man that shows Hunt’s character what she’s been missing. Add an unplanned pregnancy, the meeting of Hunt’s birth mom (Bette Midler) and heightened emotions and you get this movie.
I recently saw Stardust and loved it also. I thought DeNiro was excellent and hilarious.
