I have been wrapping up some UFOs lately … And it feels good!
Before Christmas, I started another pair of Leigh Radford’s Fingerless Garter Mitts using Classic Elite Alpaca Sox in Cereza. My original ones felt too big for my hands when I’d wear them, resulting in the extra fabric bunching up in my palm and making it difficult to manipulate my hands.
This time around I knit the main section with a few less rows, thus making the width of each mitt shorter. I’m pretty pleased with the results so far. They are more form fitting and tighter around so they don’t move around. I suspect they will loosen up with wear.
I also used this same yarn to make my Ishbel Beret and my Rouge Rainbow socks. I am excited to have a matching set of red accessories.
This project also marks the first finished project of the new year, so I’ve restarted my stash knit down countdown. My stash knit down efforts are my way to use up the yarn in my stash (destash for affluent knitters) and get creative with the supplies I already have. I’m embarking on my fourth year of this endeavor. Check out the projects I’ve completed from previous years: 2011 (14), 2010 (12) and 2009—the most ambitious year where I made 57 projects in just 52 weeks.
That year I was a knitting machine.
This year I hope to finish 15 to 20 projects. I have quite a few projects waiting in the wings for finishing touches, so this shouldn’t be difficult to achieve.
