Riding by
peering out the muddy window
an old lady
carries three overflowing bags
a little girl of nine
running to her mother
with her little poodle
a vivacious girl in a red
corvette speeds by me
with music blasting
and i turn to observe the driver
with weighted eyes
long, stringy white hair
and stern features
he looks ragged and torn.
he stops at a corner
I get off
he continues on.
