Thursdays are my routine weekly meetup night with friends at a local pub & brew. We drink, we mingle. Some play pool, some play darts, and some watch the rest make fools of each other.
While martinis aren’t the bar’s specialty, it gave rise to what my favorite cocktails are; of couse, all depending upon my mood. There are lounge drinks and party drinks. Ones to hold standing up, while there are ones definitely more appropriate for sitting down.
One of my all time favorite martinis a good friend of mine from Iowa introduced me too: Caramel Apple Martini. It is equal parts vodka, apple pucker and butterschnapps. What a tasty drink that is, especially with a nice slice of apple floating or a cherry at the bottom of the glass.
My fave mix drinks include rum/diet coke/grenadine and cranberry & vodka. I like the Smirnoff varieties, but along the lines of malt beverages, I am particularly fond of the Jack Daniels coolers which have a little bit of a bite.
Now let’s say I want to sit down, relax and mingle over dinner. I will be the first to find the Riesling or Pinot Grigio. I sample a Piesporter Michelburg at a restaurant north of my house and deeply fell in love. A pear wine I discovered in Door County also is amazing, but I like to drink that slowly.
Want something frozen? A really good daiquiri or pina colada is always yummy, just watch out for those brain freezes. Alize, cognac and midori also are high on my bar essentials list.
After reading this, one might think I drink all the time, however, unfortunately this is far from the case. But a weekly siesta is always looked forward to. Everyone, bottoms up!
I meant to write this earlier . . . Is it wrong the the way the glasses are remind me of mickey mouse?
Thanks for the birthday wishes 🙂 and enjoy your drink(s) of choice tonight!
