I watched Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) last night. Pretty decent performances by very young Robert Redford and Paul Newman but the plot was set in a Western and I just can’t get past that.
The film techniques were interesting, using different colored lenses to enhance certain scenes. Then a number of times a photo montage was used to fast forward time. It was sort of cheesy but also effective so I think it worked for the film.
As #73 on the AFI 100 list, I think it’s placement is appropriate. I wouldn’t rank it much higher than that.
This is my 82nd AFI 100 film I’ve seen. Only 18 more to go.
