Being Brave
Burdened by haunting memories
fears chase me down.
Erasing my hopes and aspirations
destroying my land of dreams.
Inescapable footsteps pounding after
me down a dark alley.
Necessity demands desperation,
panic swells through my fingers.
Gasping for air, I drawn in the sea
(of tumultuous expectations and responsibilities).
Broken and bound to roles, permanent,
a ceaseless reserve of strength never fails.
Resounding insults, assaults—fill the air
but the pulsating rhythm of sound fades.
Assaults evade the barriers; protection
with a bullet-proof vest.
Veiled by the insistent bombardment
serenity falls with the night sky.
Evaded by the lost time, the turbulence felt
fuels the journey awaiting.
